Statistics Finland renewed its classifications pages – better search and clearer structure
NewsStatistics Finland's classifications pages have undergone an extensive update. As a result of the renewal, the service has an improved search function and an even clearer way of examining the classifications and their background information.
Classifications are a key part of statistics compilation because they allow for comparison of data at different times and between different areas. Many of Statistics Finland's classification recommendations are based on international standards, which makes Finnish statistics compatible with international data materials.
The renewed website facilitates browsing and using the classifications for both statistics users and information system developers.
Now users can:
- search for a certain category in the classifications more easily by word search or code
- filter search results based on the name, code or description of the category
- examine materials related to the classification, such as description, correspondence tables and other classification versions on the classification page
- download the classifications in CSV format or use them through the open interface.
The front page of the website shows the most used classifications, such as the Classification of Occupations 2010, the Standard Industrial Classification TOL 2008, the Standard Industrial Classification TOL 2025 and the Classification of Sectors 2023.
