4 Dec 2017 100 years of independence, over 100 years of statistics on Finland

During one hundred years, Finland’s population has grown from three million to five-and-a-half million. The life expectancy of Finns has risen by 35 years from the early years of independence. The Statistical Yearbook of Finland published by Statistics Finland has described changes and development of our society ever since 1879.

31 Mar 2017 Exports of cultural goods increased in EU countries, decreased in Finland

According to Eurostat’s statistics, the value of exports of cultural goods to countries outside the EU was nearly EUR 13 billion in 2014. The value of imports was close on EUR 11 billion. Exports grew by over 20 per cent from 2008, while imports decreased by nearly 14 per cent.

15 Dec 2017 Archive digitisation advances rapidly

The volume of digitised materials in the National Archives Service of Finland exceeded 47 million in 2016 and at the end of 2017, the National Archives’ data indicate that the figure is already 52 million. The volume has almost doubled in good three years.

25 Apr 2017 Statistics Finland becomes the statistical information service channel for the Finnish Government

On 24 April, Statistics Finland opened the statistical information service for the Prime Minister’s Office, the ministries, the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland and the Office of the Chancellor of Justice. The service is part of the existing general information service of Statistics Finland’s information specialists.

27 Apr 2017 Municipal councillors are highly educated

Persons elected to municipals councils are more highly educated than those entitled to vote and the candidates. Elected councillors also have a higher income level than average for persons entitled to vote. 5 May 2017 Pensioners and highly educated people voted in advance

Of the persons that voted in advance in the Municipal elections, 46.7 per cent were pensioners. Highly educated persons entitled to vote also voted in advance more than average. Review
